Xperia Ray Modding Experience

I have been tinkering with my Xperia Ray lately. I have read several posts on forums on the internet about the superior performance of Android mobile phones with one custom ROM or the other installed in place of the Stock ROM (ROM that came installed on the mobile phone at the time of purchase).
I always kept my Xperia Ray up to date. I bought it running Gingerbread, updated it to Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0. then to last update released officially by Sony for the Xperia Ray 4.0.4.
Then came the news from Sony: Xperia 2011 devices will not have official software updates anymore, the company will rather focus on its new line of devices.
The end of official software update for the Xperia Ray got me ready to try my hands on actually installing a custom ROM on my phone. I rooted the phone already, but was earlier reluctant to install a custom ROM. I read about Super Jelly Bean released by an xda developer named harsh586 then all coulda, woulda, shoulda went puff.
I unlocked the bootloader using s1tool, testpoint method see link http://androidflip.com/unlock-xperia-phones-bootloader-without-losing-drm-data-track-id-working/ , installed fusion kernel 5.5 for Ray, tried to install the superjelly bean.zip and gapps.zip see instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2135918 , I got stuck. My Xperia Ray remained a mobile phone that only boots to fusion kernel! I copied the superjelly bean.zip and gapps.zip afresh from PC to SD card, no show. I flashed the ST18i kernel, powered up I was only getting SONY staring at me!
But that was just for a night.
The following day I connected my phone to PC ran PC Companion, no phone detected. I ran the Sony Update Software programme, my Xperia Ray was detected! Several prompts came up which included automatic fresh download of official ICS 4.0.4 after which the installation process completed. At the prompt to disconnect USB from phone and power on, I kept my fingers crossed. The phone booted up to Official Sony Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4! That was great!
I wouldn’t give up on installing the Super Jelly Bean custom ROM, I downloaded the files afresh, this time on PC, the initial download was done on my phone. I have to root again, installing ICS using Sony's SUS already blocked my root access. This time around I decided to go for software root tool from the website: http://1clickroot.com/, I also downloaded Eroot_V1.3.4

Materialism Killing Kindness?

We'll buy a lot of clothes when we don't really need em Things we buy to cover up what's inside Cause they make us hate ourself and love they wealth - Kanye West's All Falls Down

That verse just keeps recurring in my head since yesterday evening.

Wither The Innocence?

Waiting for delivery of devices to be installed, I bought two books: The Two Mrs Greenvilles by Dominic Dunne, The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule, the former a fiction, the latter non-fiction. It all started with Piercing the Darkness Frank E. Perreti's book on Christian spiritual warfare, the fuelling of angelic strength by prayer of the saints and the great victories won through prayer. The turn of events in Frank's book starts off in Bacon's Corner, reading that book in turn stirred up the hitherto stifled appetite for reading novels (so much technical stuff have been on my reading list for months).

Sally Beth Roe in Piercing the Darkness was at the verge of insanity, she escaped being assassinated. That seem to set in motion her journey to self discovery.
Sally Beth Roe traced her steps backwards, the road she had travelled is littered with wrong choices she made.

Ann Greenville in The Two Mrs Grenvilles, a former chorus girl, sired by a farmer but with cravings for life of affluence, got her dreams coming through only for her to destroy the dreams of others and eventually her own very life.

The Stranger Beside Me. How well do we know our own very self? How well do we know siblings, friends, husband, wife, relatives? I bought the book because it is non fiction, Ted Bundy didn't register in my mind as a man I had cursorily looked through his pictures and that of his victims -the man who couldn't repress his desire to bludgeon to death and often have sex with girls.

It was after reading that novel that I googled the name Ted Bundy, I got to know more about him. In the last interview he had with James Dobson I learnt that he was influenced by violent pornography. He as a kid picked a pornographic magazine depicting sexual violence against female. He continued from just looking at, to fantasizing, he ended up murdering more than 30 girls, at times killing more than one girl a day!
Just when does an innocent baby turn fiendish? A man is a product of his choices. The innocent child picks up all sorts as he grows, he is influenced by the people and things around him.
One should be careful not to be the cause of the defilement of kids around, grow the kids around you to live for a better self and a better society.

It is never too late to choose life so that you might live, it is never too late to reroute your own very life!
